Indo-European Mythology 1

  1. List and discuss the major primary sources for the mythology of three Indo-European cultures, including their dates of origin and authorship (if known). Discuss any important factors that may cause problems in interpreting these sources, such as the existence of multiple revisions, or the presence of Christian or other outside influences in surviving texts. (minimum 300 words)

Discipline 3

  1. Describe your discipline practice as an ADF Priest. Explain what you have learned from this practice, describe how your connection with the spirits who support our Consecrated Priests has grown and changed over the time you have worked with them, and reflect on your journals and omens over the period. (min. 600 words)

Pagan Theology 2

All students are required to briefly outline their answer to all questions, with 200 words minimum per question. In addition, the student must write an essay of no fewer than 5,000 words (and no more than 7,500 words) on one of the following topics, or a combination of these topics. Students who wish to write on a topic of their own choosing may contact the Clergy Council Preceptor or their reviewer for permission to do so.

Comparative Ancient Ritual Styles

1. Compare and contrast the rituals from one Western and one Eastern Indo-European culture. What elements do they have in common, if any? In what ways are they different? (minimum 300 words)

Vedic:

In the Agniṣṭoma, or soma ritual, we can see to what extents the Vedic people went when it came to their rituals. This specific ritual lasted 3 days and was performed by and for a man of one of the three upper castes when they wanted to do something more than their daily or seasonal sacrifices (Drury 25).

Magic 1

1)      Discuss the importance of the action of the magico-religious function as it is seen within the context of general Indo-European culture. (minimum 100 words)
