It has been another horrible week in the news, and it is upsetting to see how many innocent lives have been taken.  This week, we had a truck run into a crowd of people celebrating Bastille day in Nice, France killing 84, and injuring around 100.  There was no reason for this, and from what I have been hearing it was more of a depressed man with nothing to loose than any kind of coordinated terrorist attack.  It is sad that such things could happen.  We also have had a failed coup attempt in Turkey which cost hundreds of lives, and now a fear that there will be less democracy in the country because of it.  I don't know if the amount of violence has gotten more, or if we're just getting better coverage of it, I suspect a combination of both.

I pray for peace.  I pray that we learn to accept the different cultures and customs as just that, different.  Just because someone looks different, acts different, does things differently, or holds different beliefs, that does not mean that they are evil, or they are wrong.  I pray that we reach out to those that are different and get to know them.  It is only through direct contact that we can truly learn that they are not really that different at all.  With the phenomenon of Pokémon Go, meet the other players, especially if they look nothing like you, and get to know them through your love of the game.

I pray we break down the barriers that allow us to dehumanize others, and realize we are all in it together.

I pray for peace.
