Last weekend was the Christmas holiday. I had plans to visit family and have a relaxing weekend. Instead, I had a cat that showed signs of distress, and been worried about him all weekend. What is wrong with the cat, and the root cause, is still up in the air, but the one thing we are sure of is that he developed a heart murmur in the last 4 months, and it's a significant one. He'll be on a platelet inhibitor (Plavix) and will get an echocardiogram in 2 weeks (first appointment I could get). Good thing I love the little devil as it's not going to be cheap. Needless to say, he'll be getting daily reiki treatments from me, it won't hurt.
What I did though, since I did not travel, was go see the new Star Wars and I thought it was good, and I do believe it did break new ground with a female lead... but it was the same story, just told slightly differently I did like it, and I look forward to the next one... but I did not like it enough that I will go see it multiple times in the theater, at least not by myself.
I also am very thankful to my local friends. When I realized I was not traveling, 2 sets of friends (one couple, one single) reached out and gave me plans. Christmas night I ended up going out to get Chinese Buffet followed by the Dr. Who Christmas Special... loved the special, and the food was, well.... buffet food. The next night my other friend and I went out to dinner and had a wonderful time. Overall, I cannot thank my friends enough for their distracting me from my sick cat.
So, now that my plans have changed, I will be celebrating the holidays at my parents this weekend... but it may just be an overnight trip, maybe 2 nights.... because of the cat.
