These are notes on the nine virtues and what they mean to us.

  • wisdom
    • Something gained through experience
    • a desired quality in leaders
    • helps you learn from the past to prevent repeating history
    • applies critical thinking
    • overall pushes us towards excellence
  • piety
    • behavior
      • specifically in religious practice
      • practice what you preach
    • just do it, and it will eventually bring rewards
    • keep at it, you will get where you need to be
    • keeping traditions alive
    • give back as thanks for what is given.
  • vision
    • foresight to see where things are going based on what has happened.
    • know what you want and make plans to get there
    • see the bigger picture
    • bringing things, eg virtues, together to make what you desire
    • vision leads to perseverance, and creates the path to the end.
    • keeps us looking forward and progressing
    • creates challenges
  • courage
    • willingness to go against the norm, doing what has to be done.
    • doing the right thing.
    • making the difficult choice.
    • willing to face fears
    • step out of comfort zones
    • this is a way to promote personal growth and to allow for us to continue on.

  • integrity
    • doing what you say you'll do.
    • doing what is right, not convenient.
    • being honest.
    • to have integrity, you have to have courage to do it.

    • being consistent in what you say vs do.

    • doing the right thing even when it's difficult to do it.
